Adventure Trek to Bhairab Kunda, a spectacular lake in the high mountain region to the north of Kathmandu. This lake comes after the name of the ferocious form of Lord Shiva. Essential Information

Accommodation:

Teahouses or Lodges are accommodation types during the Bhairab Kunda trek that provide basic facilities but are comfortable to stay in. Generally, bathrooms are outside the teahouses. Pay additional costs for facilities like Wi-Fi, laundry, hot bucket water, and charging devices. Internet and phone networks are mostly stable in the lower regions.

Meals:

Day 01 Kathmandu arrival

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, an Outdoor Himalayan Treks representative welcomes you and transfers you to the hotel. Introduction with a guide, check the trekking gears. Night in the hotel.

Elevation: Jalbire (1000 m) 6-7 hours’ drive.

Take a 6-7 hours scenic drive to Jalbire popular for its Newari culture. Adore the picturesque beauty of mountains, rural villages, and terraced farmlands throughout the drive. Experience a bumpy road drive on an off-road trail to reach Jalbire via Balephi.

Day 04 Trek to Chanaute

Elevation: Chanaute (1350 m) 4-5 hours trek. Elevation gain: 350 m

After breakfast, trek through beautiful settlements of Tamang ethnicities witnessing several waterfalls en route. Trek relishing the wonderful surroundings for some hours and reach a small but attractive Chanaute village.

Elevation: Khani Gaon (2000 m) 6-7 hours trek. Elevation gain: 650 m

Walk on a steep trail which is longer than usual to enter the beautiful Newari village of Khani Gaon. Throughout the trek, cherish the stunning views, streams, and terraced fields, and interact with the friendly locals. Get beautiful mountain views from Khani Gaon.

Day 06 Exploration Day

Elevation: Khani Gaon (2000 m) 3-4 hours trek.

It is essential to acclimatize to adjust your body to the surroundings. From here onward, the altitude rises. So, on this rest day, spend the day exploring the surroundings. The locals here have been settled from Bhaktapur city. Visit the Dalle Pokhari, and savor the delicious local Newari food enjoying the surroundings.

Day 07 Trek to Forest Camp

Elevation: Forest Camp (3150 m) 6-7 hours trek. Elevation gain: 1150 m

Trek slowly as the elevation rises and can see changing landscapes. Walk past beautiful forested trails and in season adore the blooming seasonal flowers. Get a sight of various vegetation and birds and some wild animals. Pass through some small houses before arriving at Forest Camp.

Day 08 Trek to Pati

Elevation: Pati (3765 m) 5-6 hours trek. Elevation gain: 615 m

From Camp, trek further on a steep trail ascending slowly as it is slightly tough. Pass through some pilgrim houses and awesome towering peaks in the backdrop. Cherishing the scenery, continue trekking and arrive at Pati.

Day 09 Trek to Bhairab Kunda

Elevation: Bhairab Kunda (4250 m) 3-4 hours trek. Elevation gain: 485 m

Bhairab Kunda is a holy lake and a pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist devotees. During the full moon of the Janai Purnima festival (Jun/Aug), devotees visit this holy Kunda to take a holy bath. Lord Shiva temple is near the lake and many devotees worship in this temple after taking a holy bath. Trek to the Kunda is challenging as the trail is steep but it is possible. Enjoy the surroundings and ascend uphill towards Bhairab Kunda. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated to prevent altitude sickness.

Day 10 Trek to Sherpa Gaon

Elevation: Sherpa Gaon (2500 m) 5-6 hours trek. Elevation loss: 1750 m

Wake up early to witness sunrise views over the snow-covered Langtang range, Jugal Himal range, and Rolwaling Himal. After trekking for half an hour to the top, get mesmerized by the enchanting sunrise view. Capture those memories and descend on a steep trail slowly to reach the beautiful Sherpa Gaon.

Day 11 Trek to Larcha

Elevation: Larcha (1500 m) 4-5 hours trek. Elevation loss: 1000 m

After breakfast, walk downhill on a steep trail through the bank of the Bhote Koshi River. En route take a short break at the natural hot spring and if you wish take a bath. Relax and rejuvenate for a while and trek further to reach Larcha.

Day 12 Drive to Kathmandu

Elevation: Kathmandu (1400 m) 6-7 hours’ drive.

After breakfast, take a local bus ride to Kathmandu enjoying the scenery. Check into the Hotel, and in the evening enjoy the farewell live cultural dinner hosted by Outdoor Himalayan Treks.
