Chum Nubri imposes fees on Manaslu region Trekkers. Chum (Tsum) Nubri Rural Municipality in Gorkha district covers a total area of 1,648.5 square kilometers. The rural municipality combines previous Village Development Committees (VDCs): Samagaun, Lho, Prok, Bihi, Chekampar, Chumche, and Siridibas. This municipality spans elevations from 1,239 meters to 8,163 meters. The entire area of this municipality falls within the Manaslu Conservation Area.

Chum Nubri is home to several high passes including Larke/Larkya La at an elevation of 5,106 meters. Not only high passes, but beautiful lakes like Kal and Birendra Tals are also there. The region is abundant with diverse flora and fauna, unique cultural and historical monasteries, and local culture and lifestyle of diverse ethnicities. It is also home to the world’s eight-highest mountain Manaslu (8,163 m), and other major mountains.

For the development of the Chum Nubri Rural Municipality, it has decided to impose fees of NRs. 1000 for foreign visitors and NRs. 200 for local travelers each. The sole purpose of this initiative was to generate revenue for the local government. The decision to levy fees was made during an executive council meeting and an all-party meeting at the local unit. Strict instructions have been circulated to ensure the proper implementation of the decision. Furthermore, they have decided to establish a checkpoint in the Jagat area of Ward 3 to collect the fees.

Manaslu Circuit Trek

Manaslu Circuit Trek is a popular off-beat trek in the Manaslu region offering pristine nature. Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek

      Where to issue the permit and what do we require?

      The permits for all Manaslu region treks are issued in Kathmandu before commencing the trek. Only one permit which is Chum Nubri Rural Municipality Permit is issued at the checkpoint in the Manaslu region. Permit issue takes only a few hours which are managed by the travel agency company which you have selected. Please follow the following documents for issuing the permits:
