Mount Manaslu in Nepal is the world’s eighth-highest mountain in the world. Standing at an elevation of 8163 m, this mountain is considered challenging to ascend. A team hailing from Australia gloriously ascended Mt. Manaslu this season. The first-ever Australian expedition to Mt. Manaslu can be considered a historic achievement due to the youngest and oldest team mountaineers in their team.
The expedition’s leader Phunuru Sherpa confirmed the summit in the early hours of the morning at around 5 a.m. In the history of Australian Mountaineering, Conor James Coleman and Mark Trevor Ayrey etched their names in history. Conor became the youngest Australian and Mark became the oldest Australian in their team to achieve this feat at the age of 21 and 65 respectively.
Allan Karl Cohrs, Colin James Briggs, Dawa Tenzing Sherpa, Ang Karma Sherpa, and Sonam Tashi Sherpa were other team members along with Conor and Mark who successfully achieved this historic venture. They all volunteered and showed their skill and determination which led to the grand success of the Aussie team’s Mt. Manaslu expedition. All team members are equally deserving of this great achievement.
Ascending mountains is not an easy task. It is very demanding, full of challenges and requires strong determination. In Nepal, an expedition of Mountains above 8000 m is very perilous. But, this Aussie team’s achievement to expedite Mt. Manaslu is evidence of their strong willpower, proficiency, and teamwork. This is a great example in the field of mountaineering and motivates many mountaineers to take challenges and follow their dream of Mountain expeditions.
