On May 12, 2024, at around 7:25 am, Kami Rita Sherpa summited Everest for the record 29th time. Indeed, it is a huge achievement that will take years to break. A new world record was set by the ‘Everest Man’ Kami Rita surpassing his previous record of 28th times. With this achievement, he embraces a remarkable record of 43 summits of 8000m peaks. It is a great victory for an individual mountaineer holding a world record for ‘Maximum climbs of 8000m Peaks’ in the history of world mountaineering.

Kami Rita was born on January 17, 1970, in Thame, Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Since a young age, he has developed a passion for climbing mountains. He began his mountaineering career as a supporting staff in the year 1992. In May 1994, he first scaled Mt. Everest as a Senior Climber Guide. He has dedicated his life to mountaineering resulting in numerous successful ascents of formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu along with Everest.

Kami Rita’s record speaks for his strong dedication and passion for mountain climbing. For the long coming years, his records are a testament that are truly incredible and inspiring. In his mountaineering career of 30 years (1994-2024), he has scaled Mt. Everest 29 times, K2 and Mt. Lhotse each once, Mt. Cho Oyu 8 times, and Mt. Manaslu 4 times making it to a total of 43 summits.
