GOOD NEWS!! for all Trekking enthusiasts. Many trekkers have trekked to Manaslu Region as well as Annapurna Region. Recently, the New Trail Construction connecting Manaslu and Annapurna is on the news. The construction of a new trail that connects the northern region of Manaslu and Annapurna to create a new route has been addressed and an agreement was made.
TAAN (Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal) and the four local governments of Gorkha, Lamjung, Dordi, and Marsyangdi have reached an agreement to undertake the construction of a new trail. The agreement was signed by the Chairman of TAAN, Neelhari Bastola, and the respective heads of Ajirkot, Dordi, Marsyangdi, and Dudhpokhari local governments. They agreed to build the “Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail” that will connect Ajirkot Village Municipality in Gorkha with Dudhpokhari, Dordi, and Marsyangdi Village Municipalities in Lamjung.
Under the agreement, each local government will provide the necessary budget and collaborate with TAAN for the technical and developmental aspects of the new trail construction. In addition to the agreement, the program includes preparing a profile by exploring the new trail, developing plans for trail development, preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR), and producing promotional materials such as brochures, maps, and trekking route maps for the new trail.
TAAN, which has been working in the mountain tourism sector for the past 45 years, has already contributed to the development of tourism in various areas/regions in Nepal. This endeavor marks a significant milestone in boosting tourism in the mountainous region, building upon the successful tourism development in Dhading’s Ruby Valley Area and Gorkha’s Tsum Valley region.
With the collaboration of Lamjung and the northern local governments of Gorkha, the Chairman of the Dordi local government has pledged to initiate the construction work promptly. They will leverage support from the provincial and central governments to carry out the necessary groundwork and trail development.
Likewise, the Chief of Ajirkot local government has expressed his dedication to transforming Ajirkot’s Bhachek Bazaar as the entry point and hill station for the new trail. The Chairman of the Marsyangdi local government has pledged his cooperation to establish a connection between the new trail and the Manang district.
The new trail comprises various natural and cultural attractions, such as Ajirkot, Nagepokhari, Dudhpokhari, Lipey Lake, Meme Pokhari, Baraha Pokhari, Thulagital, and many others.
Let’s hope the new trail construction begins soon and trekkers get to trek in the new trail that connects Manaslu and Annapurna regions and create new memories.
