Nirmal Purja also popular as Nims Dai has set another record by climbing Mount Dhaulagiri without using supplementary oxygen. This is his 12th peak above 8000 meters without using additional oxygen. Nirmal Purja climbs 12 peaks in 16 months without oxygen support. He is on a mission to complete ascending all 14 peaks without using supplementary oxygen. Now, he is only two peaks behind which will make him the fastest to scale all 14 peaks without supplemental oxygen.
On September 17, Nims scaled Mount Manaslu and on September 29 he successfully scaled Mount Dhaulagiri without using additional oxygen support. Earlier in 2021, without using supplementary oxygen he had scaled Mount Manaslu and Dhaulagiri in September and October respectively. He is on a quest to double ascent of climbing peaks above 8000 meters without oxygen support. Among 14 peaks, now he is only 2 peaks away from achieving this incredible feat in just 4 years.
Next month, Nirmal Purja is set to embark on his ascend on the remaining peaks of Cho Oyu and Shishapangma in Tibet. In 2019, as a part of his ambitious project ’14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible’, he had earlier climbed Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. This successful expedition will make Nirmal Purja the fastest climber to scale all 14 peaks over 8000 meters without using Oxygen support in just 17 months.
Nims Dai successfully ascended Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Lhotse in 2022 and Mt. Annapurna, and Mt. Makalu in 2023 without supplemental oxygen. Notably, in just 26 days in 2023, he made the fastest ascent of 5 peaks – Nanga Parbat, K2, Broad Peak, G1, and G2 without using oxygen support.
Nirmal Purja, a record-breaking mountaineer boasting a plethora of records is just two peaks away from adding another remarkable achievement to his already impressive list. With the successful accomplishment of the Cho Oyu and Shishapangma expedition, Nirmal Purja aims to become the fastest individual to scale all 14 peaks over 8000 meters without the use of supplemental oxygen.
