If you are craving for a short break then Hike through Pharping Champadevi and Khokana is the best hiking route. It combines hiking, sightseeing, and an experience of typical peasant lifestyle and culture in the outskirts of Kathmandu. This one day hike in the southern outskirts of Kathmandu serves the purpose very well. Have breakfast in your hotel and then we drive for an hour to reach Pharping. It is a burgeoning settlement to the south of Kathmandu with a very beautiful monastery located in it. You get to see some of the typical Newari life in Pharping.

Trip Overview
After exploring Pharping, we climb to Champadevi for both a good sight of the valley and for our lunch. Champadevi is a good vantage point from where we do not just see Kathmandu valley, but also the Himalayan range to the north of Kathmandu. Then we cross Bagmati river to get to Khokana and Bungmati, the other typical Newari settlements that still follow the traditional occupations like the artisanship and farming. In the evening, we return to Kathmandu.
Have breakfast and drive to Pharping and Pharping exploration
We have breakfast early in the morning and drive to Pharping, and reach there by 9 o’clock. We explore the village and the monastery and climb towards Champadevi for lunch and for the view of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu valley.
Have lunch at Champadevi and return to Bungmati and Khokana
We have a sumptuous lunch at the hilltop in Champadevi and enjoy the sight of the valley and the Himalayan range to the north of the valley. Then we go across the Bagmati river to reach the Newari villages of Bungmati and Khokana. After witnessing the original Newari life there, we return to Kathmandu.
