Trip Overview
In 1992, Himlung Himal was first successfully attempted by the Japanese team. Afterward, many successful Himlung expeditions were made but still, there are hardly a thousand climbers every year on record as compared to other expeditions such as Makalu, Manaslu, and more.
Since the number of climbers for Himlung expeditions is fewer, this region is untouched and needs to be explored fully. The authenticity of this region is still present there. For climbers seeking an expedition in the wild remoteness, the Himlung Himal expedition can be the best option.
The Himlung Himal expedition takes climbers through the beautiful settlements of Koto, restricted Nar-Phu villages, Meta, and Himlung Base Camps. Traverse through dense forests, Tibetan settlement villages, scenic landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and rapidly flowing rivers in the vicinity of snow-capped mountains. This is not only an adventurous expedition but an immersion in the culture and nature journey in the remote Manaslu region. The off-beat trekking trails and less crowded region make this expedition more magical and remarkable.
Himlung Himal expedition requires climbers to be extremely fit both physically and mentally. Yes, the Himlung Himal expedition is indeed technically easy but the willpower and endurance to climb the mountain must be there. Climbers should be fully prepared and participate in extreme levels of fitness exercises before the expedition. They also should have technical knowledge of using gear and equipment. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons for Himlung Himal expedition as the weather is clear and stable, and the temperature is moderate.
Climbers traverse through several settlements and establish base camps set up. Three base camps are set up at different altitudes. Camp 1 is at 5,450m, Camp 2 is at 6,150m, and Camp 3 is at 6,375m are set up for easy ascend for climbers to expedite Himlung Himal. Ascending is very tricky and the last section involves a vertical and icy climb. Hence, climbers must be attentive while expediting Himlung Himal. Once the successful expedition is done, descend to the base camp slowly.
