Hillocks, hills, and mountains of various altitudes spread over a vast swathe of Nepalese territory — hills and mountains consume a mammoth 77% of the total area of Nepal. The snowy Himalayan peaks straddle east-west along the Nepal-Tibet border in the Great Himalayan range that divides Nepal from Tibet except in the far western region where the range falls entirely within Nepal.
The Himalayan Range in Nepal boasts 8 of the world’s 14 tallest peaks that tower over 8,000 meters from the sea level, Mt Everest, the world’s tallest. Reduce the altitude to 6,000 meters, and the count of the mountains taller than this altitude rockets to more than 1300. These figures prove that Nepal offers endless opportunities for peak climbing and mountaineering. Till now a few dozen opened for climbing and expedition have been tried and triumphed, but many of them not yet opened for travelers.
