On July 27, at around 11:30 am (Nepal time), Kristin and Tenjen achieved an impressive milestone by becoming the fastest climbers to conquer 14 peaks above 8,000 meters. They climbed the world’s second-highest peak, K2, taking advantage of a short weather window. More than 200 other climbers also attempted the summit, but many had to abandon their climbs due to unstable weather conditions and deep snow.

This further solidified their legacy by conquering the 13th peak above 8000 meters.

This achievement marked the completion of Kristin’s ambitious project to climb 14 peaks, which she began on April 26 with the ascent of Mt. Shishapangma. They broke the previous record held by renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja. He is well-known for accomplishing the remarkable feat of scaling all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters in an astonishing record time of just 6 months and 6 days, using bottled oxygen to aid his climbs.

Notably, Kristin, aged 37, holds multiple records for fastest climbing. Kristin has already made history as the first woman climber to achieve the fastest ascent of 14 peaks above 8,000 meters in an impressive time of only one year and five days. Kristin’s incredible climb of K2 and her achievement of conquering 14 peaks above 8000 meters in only 92 days have surpassed her previous records. She is now the fastest person to summit these peaks and the first woman to achieve this extraordinary feat in such a short time. If Kristin manages to climb Cho Oyu and Shishapangma in Tibet once more, she will establish a fresh record by conquering all 14 peaks twice.
