Bhote achieves a historic ski descent from Mount Manaslu becoming the first Nepali to do so over 8000 meters high. A renowned mountain guide Tshering Pande Bhote made history in the field of mountaineering by his daring stunt to ski down from Mt. Manaslu’s summit.
A 45-year-old IFMGA certification holder mountain guide Tshering Pande Bhote is from Bhotkhola-3 in the Sankhuwasabha district. He ascended to the world’s eighth-highest peak Manaslu on September 21, 2023, at around 10:37 a.m. without the use of supplemental oxygen.
Bhote started his mountaineering career in 1996 and has an outstanding track record. Bhote has effectively guided climbers on peaks over 8000 meters including Everest, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Makalu, and Lhotse.
Bhote is one of the first Nepali to acquire the prestigious International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) guide accreditation. Also, he is one of the rarest to hold certifications from both the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA) and the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association (NNMGA).
Furthermore, he is a licensed rescue technician who was one of three mountain guides chosen by Simrik Air to undertake specialized Helicopter Rescue Specialist training in Zermatt, Switzerland, in 2012. He has ample international climbing and rescue experience along with a deep understanding of logistics and planning. Notably, he is also the first RECCO instructor from Nepal.
