Trip Overview
Chulu West (6419m) is one of the very popular “trekking peaks” of Nepal. Chulu West Peak Climbing is not technically demanding and does not pose serious challenges during ascent. This is true to Chulu West, a beautiful peak in the Manang Himal that makes the northern border of a small valley north of Manang Village, a popular stopover in the Annapurna Circuit Trek. In fact, what makes Chulu West so popular is also its location along the Annapurna Circuit, near the famed Thorung La Pass. You just add some four days to the legendary Annapurna trek; you come back not only with the experience of world’s one of the famous trekking trails with one of Nepal’s highest passes but also with the tantalizing taste of mountaineering.
The approach trek to the base camp of Chulu West follows the Annapurna Circuit trail from Beshihar; up naturally and culturally beautiful and variegated Marsyandi valley as far as the village Manang. It is two days’ ahead of the headquarters of Manang district. Then we make a detour for just three days after a day of acclimatization at the village. We proceed to the base camp the following day; the high camp on the next day and to the summit on the third day. Head to Thorung Phedi after coming down and climb to Thorung La the next day—the combination is simply awesomely adventurous, although demanding efforts.
At the end of this trekking-cum-climbing trip, you return with the rewards of cross-adventure experiences; mixed with the superb trek and a short climbing. Whenever you make up your mind to embark on the Annapurna round trek, go for a fling of Chulu climb. If you are fond of something special, something out of the ordinary!
