Pancha Kunda is a beautiful lake that lies at an altitude of 4,050 m. A Hidden Gem Pancha Kunda in the Annapurna region is surrounded by the magnificent Annapurna, Nilgiri North and South, and Tilicho Peak. This pristine lake in the vicinity of towering peaks captivates both national and international tourists.
Pancha Kunda Lake lies in Narchyang in the Myagdi district. The Lake extends an area of approximately 20,000 sq. m. The lake boasts five smaller ponds, hence earning the name Pancha Kunda Tal (lake). In the vicinity, there is a holy Shiva temple and a Buddha statue worshipped by Buddhist devotees. Animal sacrifices are prohibited in the surrounding areas due to their religious significance. Visitors can delight in the captivating sight of the lake’s enchanting colors, and purity.
Earlier Pancha Kunda Lake was known as ‘Dikicho Tal’ by the Sherpas. Because the lake was located at a high altitude in the Himalayan range and the water remained frozen. It takes approx. 22 km in a vehicle to reach Humekhola of Narchyang from Pokhara Bagar. From Humekhola, a 21-km trek awaits, leading adventurers to the tranquil shores of Pancha Kunda Lake. Experienced trekkers can reach the lake from Humekhola in a day, while others may prefer a two-day trek to enjoy the scenic beauty along the way.
Walk on the Maurice Herzog Trail admiring the dense forest and the rare species of rhododendron. Rhododendron Kobanium and Rhododendron Lindsey are rare species only found in Nepal during the blossoming season. At an altitude ranging from 2,883 m to 3,553 m, the Bhushket Mela area is adorned with blooming rhododendron flowers. These vibrant flowers cover the slopes, creating a picturesque scene that attracts numerous tourists.
Along the trail, trekkers can adore the beautiful waterfalls cascading down from the hills. There are more than half a dozen enchanting waterfalls. Some mesmerizing waterfalls that captivate tourists are Phut-Phute Waterfall, Pancha Waterfall, and Rato Waterfall to name a few.
