Good News!! Ratna Mandir Palace to Unlock its Doors on Republic Day. Ratna Mandir is the former ‘Royal Palace’ that is in the vicinity of Phewa Lake, Pokhara. It covers an area of approximately 5.64 hectares and was built in 1956 AD. The palace was constructed in a charming cottage style. The complex comprises an administrative building, a spacious structure with 38 rooms, and a central main building with 11 rooms. Within the main building, some chambers once served as the residence, relaxation area, and dining space for the former queen.
In the complex of Ratna Mandir, there is a royal court surrounded by a spacious courtyard. This majestic space served as a grand venue for welcoming guests, showcasing vibrant cultural performances, and facilitating important deliberations conducted by the honored royal family.
After years of remaining closed, the Ratna Mandir Palace is now set to open its doors to all citizens on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, Jestha 15, 2080 B.S (May 29, 2023). The Nepal Trust has announced this exciting development, bringing joy to tourism entrepreneurs who eagerly await the opportunity to showcase this historical treasure to visitors.
