The year 2024 has begun and several travel sites have listed their ‘Best popular destinations in 2024 to Travel’. The New York Times has announced ‘52 Places to Go in 2024’ and among them, Nepal’s Mustang listed in New York Times 52 Places to Go in 2024.

This is great news for Nepal and the tourism industry which is a positive indication. New York Times describes Mustang as “Nestled high on the Tibetan plateau in the northern reaches of Nepal, the ancient Himalayan kingdom of Mustang is a bastion of traditional Tibetan culture, preserved for centuries by its remoteness.”

Travelers will get easier access to Mustang due to the establishment of a new 183-mile road linking the region to China. Also, the availability of Pokhara International Airport is easy access to Jomsom, the gateway to Mustang.

The prime attractions in Mustang are the ancient Kingdom of Lo Manthang heavily influenced by Tibetan culture. The scenic dry landscapes, century-old caves, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and the Himalayan lifestyle at such an altitude of 3700 m attract several tourists.
